Simple DnD Map V3 Feedback
Who played your map (Player names and their chosen class)?
My playtesters for this third version of my DnD are Weilin Tang and Daniel Lee. The classes that Weilin chose were the warrior and Daniel was the rogue.
What went right?
Things that went right were the paths that the players were supposed to go and the limited items given to them. Another thing that went well was the checkpoints that the players had accessed.
What went wrong?
Things that went wrong were the stats of the enemies. The reason being is that my playtesters were not able to damage the enemies introduced into the level while they themselves were taking more damage from the enemies. Even with the items and stat changes the players had, even the boss was able to do more damage to them.
How did the players respond to the items introduced?
I would say that the items given to the players made the battle much easier for them until the boss battle. The reason being that the items gave the players some stat changes, making the enemies easier to handle.
When creating your new level, what did having items do to the way you approached it?
When creating my new level, the items that I implemented into the game had me thinking of ways to make my players engage the map and the enemies. Which is why in my map, I had routes and had the players choose which way they wanted to go to obtain more items.
Were the challenges presented appropriate to the moderate nature of the level?
The challenges presented in this level, I would say more than challenging because the enemies I have made are overpowered with stats, which is why I had to change their stats in mid game.
Was it obvious where players were supposed to go?
Yes, because everytime the players collected their chests, I would highlight their paths and give them a choice on which way they wanted to go.
Were all items taught to the players in an appropriate way?
I believe that the items were taught in an appropriate way because the items that were in the game level would increase the player’s stats.
Overall, I think my game would be better if the enemies were nerfed before they approached the first enemy. The reason I say this is because the enemies in my map were high in stats. Looking at the image below, this enemy has 6 ATK and 6 DEF, making it hard for players to actually damage him if they were to get a low roll on the dice.
Although that is true, another option would be to give my players items so that they could learn on how and when to use the item when approaching the enemies.
